Moody Picks – Halloween-Inspired Fashion

Do you love Halloween?  If so, do you plan on getting dressed up on October 31st?  I wouldn’t say that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but I do love seeing the decorations, eating way too much candy and checking out all the crazy costumes.

It’s very rare that I go all out and buy a whole costume for the spookiest holiday of the year. I usually try to keep my Halloween look pretty simple by adding some type of animal ears and tail combo to my outfit or by wearing a bright colored wig with some exaggerated make-up and I’m pretty much done.  If you’re like me and you just don’t see the point of buying a new costume every year, but you still want to be a little festive and get in on the Halloween fun. Then this is the post for you.  Whether you’re staying in or going out trick or treating, here are 13 ways to incorporate some Halloween spirit into your outfit without playing dress up.

Moody Style: Gold Dots

Now that we have cooler temperatures here in Florida, I’ve been all about layering lately.  Nothing keeps me warmer on a chilly day than either a wool coat, a down vest or a plaid blanket scarf like the one I’m wearing here.  The oversized style and soft fabric makes this scarf one of the coziest scarves in my closet. I love it so much that I bought it in several colors.  If you’re obsessed with this scarf like I am – check out my previous posts on plaid blanket scarves here.  I paired the scarf with a gold polka dot sweater that I searched long and hard for in the beginning of last year.  And I’m so glad that I did because it turned out to be a perfect match with just about anything that I wear with it.  I also added a chambray shirt, a pair of dark rinse jeans and leopard flats to complete this casual look for any time of day.  What are some of your favorite items in your closet? Or do you have any items that you wish you had in your closet?  Let me know in the comments below.

Moody Style: Hump Day!

Happy Hump Day Everyone!   So most of you know that I travel pretty extensively for my job, so I’m hardly ever home.  When I do get the pleasure of being home and sleeping in my own bed, it’s a real treat. I’m pretty happy because I am home today and don’t have to travel again until next Tuesday.  So I’m pretty happy about this hump day and the rest of my week at home.  Do you have any plans that you're looking forward to this weekend? Let me know in the comments.

Have any of you been to a petting zoo birthday party before? I haven’t been to one until this past weekend.  One of my best friends hosted a birthday party for her 3-year old twins on Saturday.  She hired a traveling petting zoo company that came to her home and set up in her backyard. I wasn’t sure if the party was going to happen because it was pouring when I woke up.  Luckily for us it stopped raining for about the two hours the petting zoo was reserved. I had so much fun watching all of the kid’s expressions when they touched or picked up any of the animals.  There was a horse for short rides back and forth in the backyard and there was a pen was full of goats, bunnies, chicken, roosters, a goose and a little pig.  The kids inspired me to get in the pen with them and I even picked up the little pig.  It was kind of cool holding the little guy; since it was the first time I’ve ever touched a pig.  A few days after the party, my friend pointed out that the pig and I both had matching polka dots.  I didn’t even notice that at the time.  Well, here's a quick pic of my outfit and a picture of the pig that I posted on Instagram earlier this week.
