Fresh Picks to Follow: The High-Heeled Loafer

I’m so sorry for the delay with today’s post…I had some major issues with my internet.  As many of you know by now, one of the hottest trends for the fall is the high-heeled loafer.  The classic loafer with a traditional penny slot received a makeover and a stacked heel in various heights was added.   The high-heeled loafer can be seen everywhere these days especially in the retail stores and on many fashion bloggers.  This trend is a quick way to dress up any outfit and it looks really great with everything from khakis to a pair of jeans.  Here are my top 10 high heel loafers for this week’s Fresh Picks to Follow.  Do you have any high heeled loafers?  Let me know what you think!

November Wish List – Top 3

Have you all been keeping up with the Kardashian’s lately? There was so much hoopla over Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ recent nuptials on August 20, 2011.   I truly didn’t understand what all of the fuss was all about.  I watch the show from time to time, but I didn’t see any real chemistry between the Kim and Kris throughout the season and during the 4 hour wedding special.  So, when I heard the news that Kim had filed for divorce, I wasn’t surprised at all.  I don’t know why other people were surprised that this happened.  Now did I think that it would only last 72 days? Of course not.  I don’t think anybody could have predicted this short timeline.

I was talking about Kim’s divorce with one of my friends yesterday and we both talked about the growing trend in our country – that we are in a society that is wedding obsessed.  I’m not sure when it happened but our society has become so obsessed with weddings rather than being focused on the actual marriages.  Society puts so much pressure on women to get married and have babies by age 30 that women feel like their doing something wrong when these things don’t happen at the magic number.  Like many other women, poor Kim has fallen into this trap.  Is there anything that we can learn from the Kardashian wedding? Sure – don’t rush into marriage.  Really get to know your partner first and the marriage/wedding will follow when the time is right.  I also think that her family and friends should have cautioned her a little and told her to slow down – if he’s the right man for you, he’s not going anywhere.  I’m really hopeful that in the future women will follow their hearts and focus on building a solid foundation with “Mr. Right” than focus on a ring, the dress and the wedding planning with “Mr. Right Now.”  What do you all think about this story?

Anyways, I checked out some of Anthro’s new arrivals on the website and I’m loving a ton of stuff.  Have you checked it out yet?  Well, here are my top 3 items for the month of November that I can’t live without.  What items have you added to your wish list?

OOTD: Monarch Wings

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Halloween yesterday.  Did any of you dress up for work or school?  Did you dress up over the weekend?  I didn’t.  I had to work yesterday, so I naturally I had to wear a suit to the office.  I also went to the gym right after work for some Boot camp and TRX.  And right now, I’m very sore everywhere.  Anyways, I just wanted to share with you all one of my awesome discoveries in an Anthro store a few months ago.  I found this Monarch skirt on the rack by itself for only $9.95.  I couldn’t believe it.  It’s a little big in the waist, but I figure that I could over look that for $10.  I love the butterfly wings all over the dress.  I don’t know if I would have loved the skirt if it had full butterflies all over it.  Who knows…it could have been cute.  Do any of you have this skirt? How do you style it?  I would love suggestions on how to style this look…let me know!

OOTD: Shopping Trip

Yesterday, I met up with my sister at the Mall of Millenia in Orlando, FL.  I love going to this mall because it has so many stores to choose from like Anthropologie, Coach, Forever 21, Gucci and Tiffany’s to name a few.  If you’re ever in Orlando, you’ll want to take a trip to this mall.  Believe me, you won’t be sorry.  My sister and I must have gone to at least half of the stores in the mall.  We spent several hours walking around and trying on everything and the best thing is that I walked out empty handed.   I really don’t need to buy anything especially since I need to start saving for the holidays.  I can’t believe that Christmas is just around the corner.   The mall and just about every store that my sister and I visited was already fully decorated for the holidays.  How are you preparing for the holidays?  Have you already started shopping yet?

Yesterday the weather started off pretty chilly when I left the house, so I grabbed my jacket for a little warmth.  I love this jacket because of the Coach turnlocks as the buttons and the Tattersall print lining inside.  I recently bought my Drape and Twist Tee with a gift card that I won from Modernmom from I Dream of Anthropologie earlier this month.  Thanks so much Modernmom

Fresh Picks to Follow: The Camel Coat

Even though I live in Florida, I love to look at fall coats, wool or cashmere sweaters and lots and lots of boots.  Of course, the need for these items is short lived because our fall/winter isn’t very long.  I think that I’ll always love these items because of my northern upbringing and my secret desire to live up north again.  I truly miss dressing up for all four seasons.  And I wish I didn’t have to justify wearing my boots, my wool sweaters or even my coats.  Well, that’s a whole other topic for another day.  This week’s Fresh Picks to Follow is all about the camel coat.  I currently have several coats in my closet in various colors, but I don’t own a camel colored coat yet.  The camel coat is simple, timeless, and chic; it has been a classic for years and a staple in many men and women’s wardrobes.  This weekend, I plan to look into investing in one for the fall – of course my coat will be a lightweight version.  Here are my top 10 camel coats for this week’s Fresh Picks to Follow.  Do you own a camel coat or do you plan on purchasing one?  Let me know what you think!
