In The Mood: Warby Parker’s Newest Collection

Beach vacations, flowers in bloom and lots of sunshine will be here before you know it with the first day of spring quickly approaching.  And the best way to welcome in the rays is with a handful of sunglasses in new silhouettes and colors.

Warby Parker is launching their newest sunglass collection today called The Daydream Collection.  And I’ve picked out a couple styles that I’m loving right now and I think you will too. The new collection includes 2 new frame shapes in 2 different colors each: Jackson (a wider but similar take on the ever-likeable Winston) and Abel (a little angular, a little round, a lot of fun). They’ll be your new grab-and-gos for lunchtime saunters and Vitamin D replenishment, while current favorites Piper, Topper, and Madison get a little freshening-up in colorways like Petal Tortoise, Crystal, and English Oak.

Here are some of my favorites so far:

The Daydream Collection is available at Warby Parker retail locations (here) and online at WarbyParker.com.  All of the frames start at $95, which is an awesome deal because the price includes prescription lenses.  And if you’re a little iffy about buying sunglasses online, then don’t worry. Warby Parker’s Home Try-On program allows you to pick ouf five of your favorite frames to try-on at home for five days! Crazy right? All you have to do is mail back the frames that you don’t want and simply pay for the frames you want to keep.  How easy is that?  And the shipping is absolutely free for this service.  See, I told you not to worry.

Although I don’t personally own a pair, I jumped at the opportunity to share this collection with you all because I’m a big a fan of their glasses and the company.  Did you know that Warby Parker promises that for every pair of eyeglasses purchased, a pair will be given to someone less fortunate? The “Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program has already distributed over a million glasses to people in need in over 35 countries. I love supporting companies that is in the business of creating excellent products, as well as making a major impact on the community in the process. If you want to learn more about this program – check out this inspirational video here.

So as I daydream about wearing these cute new sunglasses, spending hours at the beach and long weekend getaways with family and friends, you should check Warby Parker’s new line of sunglasses.  These sunglasses are the perfect way to ease you into the new season and not a moment too soon.  Let me know which ones are your favorites. Wishing you all a beautiful Tuesday!

Fresh Picks to Follow – Summer Sunnies

It’s been raining cats and dogs here in Florida lately, so I haven’t had the need for sunglasses for about a week.  But we all know that this is only temporary.  Since I’ve moved back to Florida, I’ve owned several pairs of sunglasses to get me through each year. I have a couple pairs of designer sunglasses (bought on a deep discount) that I don’t wear all the time, because I’m afraid that I’ll either lose them or break them.  And I definitely don’t run in them.  For my run days, I grab a pair of my cheap glasses or wear a sun visor instead.

I’ve always thought about investing in a really nice pair of designer sunglasses, but then I think to myself is it really worth the price? I recently read an article that suggested that they are not.  For starters, did you know that most sunglasses are made by the same company?  One company, Italian manufacturer Luxottica, makes some all of the top brands like Burberry, Chanel, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch and Donna Karan.  Luxottica is one of the biggest consumer companies that many consumers have never heard of before.  Another thing that I learned is that in many cases, the same company is also selling you the glasses. Luxottica also owns LensCrafters, Pearle Vision and Sunglass Hut. Who knew right?  Check out this article here for more information about sunglasses.

Anyways, for this week’s Fresh Picks to Follow, here are my top 10 sunnies that I’ve been eyeing lately.  It’s a mix of high-end designer brands and low end designer knock offs.  Do any of you have a pair of sunnies that you can’t live without?  What’s your favorite pair? Do you splurge or try to save money when it comes to sunglasses?  Let me know in the comments.
