Moody Style: Ahoy

Here’s a quick post of the outfit that I wore on the Fourth of July.  This playful nautical halter dress was described on Anthropologie’s website as an irresistible charmer adorned with schooners and anchors.  And I couldn’t agree more.  I was so happy when I scored this dress last winter for only $30.00. I love finding deals after the season.  I just had to hold on to this little number for a little while to make a big reveal for the red, white and blue holiday.  I can say this dress has been my favorite Fourth of July outfit by far.  Do any of you have a favorite outfit for the Fourth of July holiday?  Let me know in the comments.

I can’t believe that June is already over.  I feel like I say this every month, but I’m genuinely surprised how fast time is flying by.  This past week and a half was a world wind between traveling for work and traveling for personal reasons.  I traveled to Pensacola, Orlando, West Palm Beach over a matter of several days and then took an unexpected trip to Jamaica to visit family.  I just got back home today and I’ll be home bound for the remainder of the week.  I’m really looking forward to relaxing and celebrating the 4th of July with friends and family.  I still don’t know what we’re doing but I know I’ll have a good time.  Do you have plans for the 4th of July? Moody Style: Antique Floral

I’m a little late in posting about my obsession with J.Crew’s Antique Floral collection, but that’s okay, right?  Better late than never is what I always say.  Anyways, back to me talking about my love for the antique floral pattern.  I think that this pattern is so versatile and feminine. And it seems that I wasn’t the only one considering there are only a few pieces available on the site.  I only wish I had gotten the pencil skirt before it sold out. Moody Style: Denim and Stripes

Last night, I just realized that I haven’t written anything on my blog yet for the month of June and we’re already on the 9th days.  Yikes, I don’t know where the time went.  I need to get better about that.  Well, I’m flying down to Miami again for another work trip, so I figured I’ll start writing this post during my flight.  I should be doing actual work for my job, but who wants to do that on the plane.  I’ll be down in South Florida until Thursday, so be sure to check out my Instagram for more up to date posts of my comings and goings.  I’m pretty sure there will be another Jugo Fresh visit while I’m down there.  I’m obsessed with their açaí bowls.  I’ve tried to recreate them at home, but my version is no match for their delicious goodness.  Have you ever tried to recreate a drink or a meal at home after thinking about it for days, weeks or even months?  Were you successful with coming up with your own copycat recipe?  Let me know in the comments.

Moody Style: Anchored Down

I just got back in town from a quick trip to Dallas, TX for a work meeting.  I’m literally home for a night with enough time to unpack and repack for another trip.  Traveling for work was fun and a little glamorous the first few times I had to do it.  However, the unending parade of hotel rooms, living out of my suitcase, and standing in long lines for airport security is quickly losing its charm.  I can see how people can get worn down from doing this for too long.  The only way to maintain my sanity is coming home and sleeping in my own bed even if it’s just for one night.  I love feeling anchored down with some normalcy and the comforts of home.  It always perks me back up and gets me going for the next trip. Moody Style: Flowers and Stripes

This has to be one of my all time favorite outfits so far this year.  I fell in love with the Punk Floral print when J.Crew brought it out last year.  But I wasn't able to grab any of the pieces except for the bathing suit.  So I was elated when the company released a newer version of this print at J.Crew Factory.  As soon as I could make it out to my local store, I jumped at the chance to grab this skirt (here) and this sweater (here).  I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty happy that I can find some of J.Crew’s sold out pieces at the Factory from time to time.  Have any of you snagged some of J.Crew’s best sellers at the Factory?  What have been your favorite purchases so far?  Let me know in the comments.

Moody Style: Coral and Lace

Hiya everyone!  I hope that you all had an awesome holiday weekend.  I really didn’t do too much over the past three days.  I stayed pretty close to home and ate my way through the weekend with lots of barbecue.  I had the most pretty amazing BBQ ribs that I'm still dreaming about.  I’m so bummed that they're all gone.  Other than eating, I managed to make it out to farmer’s market on Saturday and bought some fresh veggies and homemade soap.  I also made it out to the stores for a little retail therapy.  I bought a few things from J.Crew (like this and this) and Banana Republic (a couple pieces from their limited edition Marimekko collection) since they were both having great sales this weekend.  I also ran a few miles each day to help me feel better about all of the food that I ate over 3 days.  Did you all enjoy your weekend?  Did you go shopping?  I would love to hear what you did or what you bought.  Just let me know in the comments.

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I’m so excited that we only have two days left in the week before the Memorial Day Weekend.  Do you have any plans this weekend? I don’t have any plans yet, but I’m really looking forward to having some down time at home.  I’m hardly ever home since I travel so much for work.  As a result of my travels, my apartment is in serious needs of a little TLC.  The only thing that I have scheduled this weekend is a 5k race on Memorial Day.  I haven’t ran in a race since March, so Monday morning should be interesting.  I would like to make it to the beach at least once this weekend and I would love to find a barbecue to crash.  If anyone’s barbecuing  just let me know - I just may show up.

Happy Monday and Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!  I hope that you all had a fabulous weekend.  Did any of you have any plans today for Cinco de Mayo? My plans only involved going to Cantina Laredo and eating great food and lots of chip and guacamole.  So after work, I made sure I worked out for about 2 hours so I wouldn’t feel so guilty about all of the food I planned to eat.  But all of my working out didn’t really help.  I still felt a little guilty afterwards.  I know that I’ll be running off my food at some point tomorrow afternoon.  So how did you spend Cinco de Mayo? Happy Hump Day Everyone!   So most of you know that I travel pretty extensively for my job, so I’m hardly ever home.  When I do get the pleasure of being home and sleeping in my own bed, it’s a real treat. Moody Style: Late to the Party

I know that I’m a little late to the party posting about the Peter Pilotto collection for Target, but it’s better late than never right? Well I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t one of the thousands of people that went to a Target store to shop this collection the morning it launched.  I figured that I would wait until the collection went on sale and find at least something from the leftovers.  When I first tried on some of the pieces in the collection, I wasn't a big fan mostly because of the sizing and cut of the items. But this dress worked out perfectly for me.  When I bought it last month, I was able to snag this dress for 30% off the original price. Moody Style: Easter Traditions

I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter weekend.  Did any of you have any special plans?  I wish that I had something planned for Easter this year, but all I ended up doing was working most of the day.  I did however make it to the first church service at 7:30am.  Where there were surprisingly tons of families with little children dressed in their Sunday best.   After seeing all of those families in church this morning, I was a little nostalgic for those Easter traditions my family had while I was growing up.

Our family traditions involved getting Easter baskets with the obligatory chocolate bunny, jelly beans and crazy colored grass, dying eggs, hunting eggs filled with chocolate foiled wrapped eggs, dressing up in fancy dresses for church and eating a family dinner together.  As my sisters and I got a little older, the traditions tapered off to just attending church and family dinners.  Now that everyone in my family is working and off doing their own thing, we barely get together for Easter anymore.

I know that things never really stay the same, but it would be nice to get some of the old traditions back.  I guess this is something that I need to work on for next Easter.  I hope you and your family enjoyed your holidays and holiday traditions.  Is Easter a big holiday for your family or do you keep it small? Moody Style: My Second Home

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may know that I’m back in Miami again.  I swear lately I feel like Miami is becoming my second home.  I flew in this morning on a 6:00am flight for work and I’m pretty sure I’ll never do that again.  I’m not sure what I was thinking about when I booked the flight - I’m beyond exhausted right now.  I’m looking forward to catching up on some sleep tonight and starting over tomorrow to make sure that I have productive week.  During my personal time, I plan to explore different parts of Miami and share some of my personal little adventures with you all.  So, be sure to check out my Instagram feed for the most up to date posts (here).  I’m more likely to posts there than on my blog this week.  I’m slowly working on trying to get a system going where I post on my blog and Twitter/Instagram equally, but I’m failing miserably.  Does anyone have a schedule or ideas that’s working for you regarding posting to all of your social media outlets?  I’d love to get any pointers if you’re willing to share.  Just let me know in the comments.

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend.   I’m in Miami right now where the weather is almost 90 degrees today.  So I feel pretty silly posting a picture of this polka dot number, but it’s still going to happen nonetheless.  This is another picture that I never had a chance to post from last week when we a couple random days of cold weather.  I grabbed this sweater during the J.Crew sample sale that I went to in December and shortly after I found these little polka dot shoes after Christmas from Banana Republic.  When my sister first showed me these shoes can you believe that I told her that I didn’t need them?  I know right.  I’m so glad that I snagged them.  Thanks so much C!  Do you have any purchases that you were on the fence about and now you’re glad that you bought it?  Let me know in the comments.
