happy monday everyone! i’ve added my random ramblings to carissa’s miscellany monday party!  check out carissa’s blog here and join in on the fun.

{one} running. so i’ve ramped up my running again because i’m training for the lululemon seawheeze half marathon.  i’m getting very excited for the this race because it will be my first time in vancouver and race organizers have promised the runners an amazing weekend.  i’m pretty impressed with the organization of this race so far.  i received my official race shorts in the mail a couple of weeks ago (*pictured) - aren't they cute?  the race organizers have also sent the runners a pretty detailed training schedule and several videos consisting of yoga and running drills.  i can wait to see what’s in store for us in august.

{two} chia seeds. as i mentioned previously, i’m eating a new food called mila, it has given me more energy to get through a long workday and it has increased my mental clarity and the best part is they send me a check. i recently decided to become an independent distributor of mila because i love the product so much and it’s made a huge difference in my life.  if you want to learn more about what mila is and all of its benefits, please click here.  and if you have a chance, check out the video here from abc about chia seeds.

Moody Girl Eats: A Go-To Green Drink

I’ve been drinking this amazing green drink ever since I saw the actress/co-founder of the Honest Company, Jessica Alba, on a variety of talk shows several months ago.  On the talk shows, Jessica Alba revealed her secrets to her hot new body after giving birth to her baby in her new book, The Honest Life.  One secret that she revealed in her book is that she sips on this green drink throughout the day to help keep her feel full.  So, she didn't feel the need to snack as often throughout the day. I never had a chance to buy her book to get the exact measurements of the drink, but the ingredients below is what I was able to gather based on her various television appearances.  When I heard Jessica list out all of the ingredients together I knew it was going to be pretty amazing. I made a couple of changes to the recipe based on my tastes and I wanted to share it here with you all.  Let me know what you think about this drink if you have a chance to try it.  Do any of you have a favorite smoothie or juice that you like to mix up on a regular basis?  Let me know all about it in the comments.

Go-To Green Drink
[Adapted from The Honest Life, by Jessica Alba]

Ingredients:

2 stalks of celery, chopped
1 whole cucumber, skin on, chopped
2 apples, chopped (either a golden delicious or granny smith)
2 big handfuls of kale (2-3 large leaves)
1 whole lemon (juiced)
1 teaspoon of a peeled fresh ginger (you can add more to taste)
2 tablespoons of MILA chia seeds (OPTIONAL - I added this ingredient for extra nutrients).
3-4 cubes of honeydew melon or watermelon for sweetness.  Or you can also use a pinch of stevia or a tablespoon of honey.  (I added the honey to this recipe because I personally think it tastes great with it).
5-7 ice cubes
Water

Directions:

Makes about 2 servings.

Place all ingredients in a blender and add just enough water to get it going. Blend until smooth and sweeten the drink to taste. Pour the drink in a glass and sip it right away with a straw and Enjoy!

Moody Girl Eats: Mila – The Miracle Seed

I’m eating a new food called Mila, it gives me mental clarity and energy to get through a long workday and the best part is they send me a check.  Have any of you heard of Mila yet?  Mila has been a great addition to my life and I'm happy to be able to share it with you here.

Mila is a special blend of chia seeds that produces the maximum nutritional value.  It is a whole raw food that provides a natural source of omega 3’s, antioxidants and phytonutrients. Mila is also gluten-free, trans-fat free, sugar-free, and a superior plant based source of protein and fiber.  It can be deliciously combined with many foods, like oatmeal, yogurt, salads and my all time favorite - smoothies.  Mila is consumed throughout the world for its heart, bone, prostate, breast, and gastro-intestinal support. With its supreme biological properties, Mila is an unparalleled tool for weight management, but it is also widely consumed for anti-aging, prenatal care, and mental health.
